PadSynth — Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

This policy is short because PadSynth's architecture makes it short: the app has no network access at all. It cannot collect, transmit, or share your data, because it never connects to anything.

Summary

What PadSynth stores, and where

Your user presets, pad-learn mapping, Key Lock configuration and app settings are stored locally in the app's private, sandboxed storage. Uninstalling the app without first exporting your presets permanently deletes them; PadSynth has no way to recover them, because no copy exists anywhere else.

Permissions PadSynth requests, and why

PermissionWhy it's needed
Foreground service (media playback)To keep the synthesizer engine running and audible while the screen is off or another app is in front — without it, Android would suspend audio mid-performance
Post notificationsSolely to display the ongoing "engine running" notification that Android requires for a foreground service
MIDI (device feature)To receive note, velocity and controller data from a connected USB MIDI instrument, such as an Akai MPC or a USB-MIDI interface

PadSynth requests no Internet permission, no location, no contacts, no camera, no microphone, and no broad storage access. Reading and writing preset files uses Android's Storage Access Framework, which grants access only to the individual file you select.

Connected MIDI and audio hardware

When you connect an instrument over USB, PadSynth reads incoming MIDI messages in order to play notes and audio out to your chosen output device. This data is used in the moment and discarded — no performance, note sequence, or recording is captured or retained by the app.

Purchase

PadSynth is a paid app with no in-app purchases. The one-time purchase is processed entirely through Google Play. PadSynth never receives, sees, or stores your payment details — those are handled by Google Play under Google's own privacy policy. The app itself stores nothing about your purchase — entitlement is handled by Google Play.

Third-party services

Apart from the Google Play purchase described above, PadSynth does not integrate with, or transmit data to, any third-party service, analytics provider, or advertising network.

Children's privacy

PadSynth is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age — consistent with the no-data-collection architecture described above.

Changes to this policy

If PadSynth ever adds a feature that changes this policy, this page will be updated first, and the change will be disclosed in the app's release notes before it ships. As of this version, no such feature exists.
